Fleche.jpg  Option 1: VISIT OF CHATEAU OF CLOS LUCE, LEONARDO'S LIFE + VISIT OF AN ART GLASSWORK

During the middle age (1214 – 1417) the domain belongs to the Amboise family. This pink bricks and freestone domain, built over gallo-roman foundations, begins under the reign of Louis XI, in 1471. The place is bought by Charles VIII in 1490 to become the summer residence of the kings of France. At the end of the XVII century, the Château du Cloux is named Château du Clos Lucé. It’s recovered by the Amboise Family who saves it from destruction during the revolution. In 1516, Leonardo da Vinci leaves Italy and heads for the Château du Clos Lucé in Amboise after being invited by the king of France. From his home Tuscany to his death at the Clos Lucé on May the 2nd 1519, Leonardo has tried to unveil the secrets of nature and physics, which are the basis of his work. The Château du Clos Lucé, bearing the mark left by the Master, has a mission of giving an overview of the work of Leonardo to the general public.

Amboise royal castle, architectural jewel of the Renaissance, overhangs the Loire, a UNESCO World heritage river. A place of residence for French kings from the 15th to the 19th centuries, its destiny is inextricably linked to the history of France. Numerous literary figures and artists were invited here, like Leonardo da Vinci whose tomb is preserved at the château. This royal château is thus the expression of French-style luxury.
